Babar Azam, the skipper of Pakistan in all formats, has come under fire from former Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, who claims he doesn’t belong in T20s or even ODIs. Babar is better suited for Test cricket, he claimed.
In limited-overs cricket, Harbhajan Singh dislikes Babar Azam because he thinks the Pakistani skipper struggles to overpower opponents.Â
It is important to note that Babar Azam won the ICC ODI Player of the Year title in consecutive years and presently leads all other players in terms of points in the ICC ODI rankings.
The statement from Harbhajan came at a time when Babar is currently dominating the ODI format as the number one batter, and he is in the third spot when it comes to T20I rankings.
“Let [Mohammad] Rizwan take a single and bowl five deliveries to Babar because he won’t inflict damage on you,” Harbhajan said in an interview on YouTube.
“Babar is a very good batsman in Test cricket, but not in T20s or even for the ODIs. I feel there might be better players than him over in Pakistan.” Â
