Pakistan’s street football team is set to showcase their skills and talent at the prestigious Norway Cup, the world’s largest tournament for individuals aged between 10 and 19. The highly anticipated sporting event will kick off on July 29, 2023, in Oslo, Norway.
In a remarkable achievement last year, Pakistan secured an impressive second-place finish in the Street Child World Cup held in Doha, Qatar. Despite an unbeaten run throughout the tournament, they narrowly lost to Egypt in the championship game (4-3) after a penalty shootout.
Tufail Shinwari, Pakistan’s forward, emerged as the standout player of the competition, exhibiting exceptional performance by scoring an impressive 13 goals.
The 16-year-old sensation garnered attention with consecutive hat-tricks against Qatar and Bosnia during the group stages. Unfortunately, India was eliminated from the tournament following the group games.
The Street Child United, a non-profit organization based in the UK, organized the 11-day competition, which brought together 28 teams from 24 nations.
The event served as a platform to empower street-connected young people and raise awareness about the challenges they face globally.
