In a sad incident at Defense Housing Authority (DHA) Y Block in Lahore, a man who was reportedly influenced by the popular online game shot and killed a young police officer from the Dolphin Police and critically injured another.
The officer who passed away, Hafiz Nauman, had been married for a year. According to the initial investigation, the armed attacker shot Nauman from a very close distance of two feet, hitting him in the chest.
The shooting happened when Nauman and his colleague were trying to apprehend the gunman in a busy commercial area. Sadly, one of the bullets went into Nauman’s lungs, causing his death. The attacker also shot Constable Mohsin, causing serious injuries to his chest and leg.
Authorities later found the gunman, whose name was Asif but also known as Asu, in Patoki. Asu was killed by his accomplices during an encounter with the police.An official revealed that Asu had become addicted to playing PUBG games and was influenced by the game’s violent nature. He also mentioned that this is not the first time that the game has been connected to violent crimes.
In a similar incident last year in Kahna, a 14-year-old fan of PUBG shot his entire family, including his mother and two younger sisters.
