Dubai Police recently honored Nouf Al Mazrouei, an Emirati woman, for her quick thinking and courageous intervention in thwarting an attempted robbery and kidnapping. The incident took place in Al Muraqqabat when two men tried to forcibly abduct a man and steal Dh250,000 from him.
Nouf Al Mazrouei, who happened to be on her lunch break and waiting in her car for a food order, witnessed the incident unfold. She noticed the two men attempting to force the victim into a white vehicle. Realizing the gravity of the situation, she bravely intervened, demanding that they stop the violence.
Despite the men’s claims that the victim was their colleague, Nouf Al Mazrouei understood that their actions were illegal. She memorized the vehicle’s license plate number and promptly alerted Dubai Police.
Dubai Police acted swiftly upon receiving her call, and a patrol arrived within minutes to take her statement. They later located the vehicle on Sheikh Zayed Road, revealing that it was not a minor altercation but a serious criminal act.
Maj Gen Abdullah Al Maasam, director of Bur Dubai Police station, commended Nouf Al Mazrouei’s swift and smart actions, which thwarted the attempted robbery and kidnapping. Her alertness and sense of security enabled law enforcement officers to track down the criminals and rescue the victim. This incident underscores the importance of citizen vigilance and cooperation in maintaining public safety.
