Govt increases Petroleum Levy by Rs 14.84 to Rs 47.26

While maintaining the prices of Petrol, the government has increased the petroleum levy by Rs. 14.84 to Rs. 47.26 per litre.

It will commence on 16th October 2022.

The main reason behind the increase of the petroleum levy was the pressure from IMF after the government lowered the levy on petrol by Rs 5 on Oct 1, 2022.

According to some reports, the government will increase the petroleum levy up to Rs50 per litre on petrol and diesel to raise Rs 850 million this year.
