Gurbaz and Zadran Break Babar and Rizwan Record of Most Runs as a Pair in T20 World Cup

Afghanistan’s opening batsmen Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmanullah Gurbaz have set a new milestone in T20 World Cup history by scoring the most runs as a pair in a single edition of the tournament.

They accumulated an impressive 442 runs in the 2024 T20 World Cup, breaking the previous record of 411 runs set by Pakistan’s Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan in 2021.

In a crucial match against Bangladesh, Zadran and Gurbaz gave Afghanistan a strong start by putting together a partnership of 59 runs for the first wicket. Afghanistan ended their innings with a total of 115-5 in the allotted 20 overs. Gurbaz made a significant contribution, scoring 43 runs off 55 balls.

Bangladesh’s bowler Rishad Hossain stood out with his performance, taking three wickets for 26 runs. This match is pivotal as it will determine the semifinal spots in the tournament.
