Internet Suspension Results in 1.6 Billion Loss in Pakistan

Following the huge outburst of anger from the whole nation after the arrest of Former Prime Minister Imran Khan, the internet service has been suspended among the whole nation with restricted access to major social media platforms. The action has resulted in huge economic loss of around 1.6 billion.

The IT industry and digital services providers has faced a severe loss in the wake of internet suspension. As the majority of Pakistani youth work on freelance platforms, the internet outage has resulted in a significant decline in providing online services. Fiverr has put “Risk Warning” on South Asian freelancers and has made their gigs unavailable.

Moreover, the online services like Careem, Uber, and Indrive has also faced decline in rides. Additionally, Food panda and such online delivery services has declared the most significant loss to observe in history. Meanwhile, this uncertain situation keeps on aggravating and there is no news about when the services will be restored.
