The Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad has officially announced the establishment of six designated cattle markets across the federal capital in preparation for Eid ul Adha, with operations scheduled to commence from May 10. This initiative is aimed at facilitating citizens in purchasing sacrificial animals in an organized and regulated environment ahead of the religious festival.
According to the announcement, the approved cattle markets will be set up at Zia Masjid, I-12, Barakahu, Lehtrar Road near Sultana Foundation, Sangjani, and Japan Road. These locations have been selected to ensure accessibility for residents from different sectors of Islamabad and surrounding areas. The administration has instructed all concerned departments to make comprehensive arrangements in advance, including adequate parking facilities, proper sanitation systems, clean drinking water, and enhanced security measures to manage large public gatherings.
In addition, magistrates will be deployed on a round-the-clock basis to oversee the smooth functioning of these cattle markets. They will be responsible for monitoring daily operations, ensuring fair pricing practices, and addressing public complaints related to overcharging or any irregularities in trade activities.
The district administration has also imposed a strict ban on the sale and purchase of sacrificial animals outside the officially designated cattle markets within Islamabad. This step has been taken to regulate the livestock trade during Eid season, prevent illegal roadside sales, and maintain order in the city. Authorities have warned that any violation of these instructions will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
