The M-13 Kharian–Rawalpindi Motorway is expected to significantly transform road travel between Lahore and Islamabad by shortening the route by nearly 100 kilometers and reducing travel time by approximately one hour.
The new motorway is designed to provide a faster, safer, and more efficient alternative for both commuters and commercial transport, helping ease congestion on the existing M-2 Motorway.
Planned as a state-of-the-art six-lane corridor, the project will enhance connectivity between key urban and industrial centers while lowering transportation costs and improving the movement of passengers and freight.
The motorway is also expected to increase road safety, reduce fuel consumption, and support the growing demand for modern transport infrastructure.
Integrated with the M-11 and M-12 motorway networks, the M-13 corridor is projected to strengthen regional trade, stimulate economic growth, and improve access to major cities across the country.
It will also enhance Pakistan’s strategic connectivity with Central Asia, Afghanistan, and China, reinforcing its role as a key regional trade and transit hub.
