The 41-year-old legend believes that a franchise-based football league is a move in the right path for the country’s football growth. It is quite exciting that professional football is set to start in Pakistan. A country with a population of 220 million people has a lot to offer a successful league and national team in the future.

“Of course, I’ll be paying you a visit. There is no doubt about that. We had thought that I would be able to visit already, but owing to the pandemic, we have had to postpone it slightly. I’m not sure when I’ll be there, but I’ll be there,” he replied.

“I’m thrilled to be here, to be a part of the Pakistan Football League. I hope the fans are as enthusiastic as I am. I am a big fan of cricket, and I see the love that the people of Pakistan have for the game. I’m sure there will be a sizable football fan base as well. I also know that the Premier League is extremely popular in Pakistan, so there will be a lot of interest,” he added.
