Pakistan Ranks Least Costly Among 139 Countries of the World

Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin shared on Sunday that the cost of living index graph represents  Pakistan as the least costly country, ranking last among 139 countries being evaluated for their living expenses.

He stated that a 4-member family would need Rs171,783 for their living expense (minus rent) in Pakistan, which is a 71.52 % lower expense than a family would require in the US.

He also said that Pakistan has suddenly jumped seven points on the world happiness index, and it illustrates that country’s economic situation is better now.

At a press briefing in Islamabad, he said that factors recorded in the world happiness index show that Pakistan has significantly improved in GDP, compassion, life expectancy level, social assistance programmes and perception of corruption.

“Because of several economic indicators of PTI government, our current account deficit has lowered to just 545 million dollars that were more than 20 billion dollars before we got into power,” he added.

He also shared that the country’s imports are reducing while exports including services exports have risen manifold and other than large-scale production also observed 8.2 percent growth. He raised the possibility that the overall annual growth rate will be above five at the end of the current financial year.

Earlier, Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin also discussed a cost of living index outlining how Pakistan is the least expensive among 139 countries worldwide.
