Pakistan Set Target of 283 Runs Against Afghanistan

In the 22nd match of the ICC World Cup 2023, Pakistan took on Afghanistan at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, India. Pakistan, after winning the toss, decided to bat first. The opening partnership between Imam-ul-Haq and Abdullah Shafique started solidly but saw Imam-ul-Haq’s dismissal at 56 runs, courtesy of Azmatullah Omarzai’s effort.

Abdullah Shafique played impressively, contributing 58 runs studded with five fours and two sixes, providing a significant boost to Pakistan’s total. However, the batting lineup experienced a hiccup, as Muhammad Rizwan could only manage to score eight runs before departing.

The key players for Pakistan were their captain, Babar Azam, and Saud Shakeel. At the time of this report, Babar Azam was at the crease with 43 runs to his name, and Saud Shakeel had amassed 12 runs. The team had reached a score of 146 runs for the loss of three wickets in the 32nd over. Pakistan set target of 283 for Afghanistan and loss 7 wickets.

It’s worth noting that Pakistan made a change in their squad, bringing in Shadab Khan in place of Muhammad Nawaz due to the latter’s illness. On the other hand, Afghanistan also altered their lineup by including Noor Ahmad in place of Farooqi, bolstering their spin department.

This ongoing match carries significance for both teams, as they seek to secure a crucial victory in the ICC World Cup 2023, and the outcome will play a role in shaping their journey in the tournament.
