Pakistan to Export Goods to Asian Countries Through Pakistani Currency

The federal government has recently approved the sale of a limited number of commodities to Central Asian Republics (CARs) via Afghanistan in exchange for Pakistani currency.

As per reliable sources, the government amended the Export Policy Order, 2020 to allow the export of commodities in rupees through land routes. However, salt, rice, cement, medicine, poultry, meat, fruits and dried fruits, fish and other fish products, medicines, candies, sweets, and sugar goods are now allowed to be exported.

Moreover, bakery products, plant food parts, oil cakes, vegetables and related material, vegetable trash, matches, textiles and textile products, building stones, and surgical tools are also among the items not allowed to be exported.

However, due to the lack of tradable currency through banking channels last month, the cabinet’s Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) approved the export of another 14 items to Afghanistan in rupees through land routes.
