Pakistan Win Bronze Medal at Wheelchair Tennis

Pakistan’s wheelchair tennis team secured a bronze medal at the BNP Paribas World Team Cup Wheelchair Tennis Asian Qualification Event held in Colombo on Sunday.

The team won against Iran with a 2-1 score. The decisive victory came in the doubles match, where Asif Abbasi and Fida Hussain played exceptionally well, winning 6-4, 6-4.

Earlier, Iran took the lead when Hussain Mamipour defeated Fida Hussain in the first singles match with a score of 6-0, 6-1. However, Asif Abbasi made a strong comeback for Pakistan in the second singles match, winning convincingly with a 6-0, 6-0 score, leveling the match at 1-1.

The final doubles match decided the outcome, and Pakistan’s duo of Asif and Fida delivered a solid performance to claim the bronze medal.

In the tournament, Japan won both gold medals, while Iraq secured silver. Pakistan’s achievement is a proud moment for the country’s wheelchair tennis players, showcasing their determination and skill on an international level.

This victory highlights the growing strength of wheelchair tennis in Pakistan and the potential of these players to achieve even greater success in the future.
