Pakistan’s First Green Hydrogen Plant to be Established in Thatta

In Thatta, Pakistan will develop its first green hydrogen factory in partnership with China.The Sindh government has issued a letter of intent for the project’s establishment and has also granted 7000 acres of land near the Gharo Jhimpir wind corridor in Thattha.

According to information about the project given at the time of the MoU signing ceremony, it will generate about 150,000 kg of green hydrogen per day from a 400 MW-capable facility using power from wind and solar farms.Green hydrogen is the name given to hydrogen gas produced with clean, renewable energy sources like solar or wind energy, which emit no greenhouse gases.

It is to be noted that the Sindh government had inked an MoU with a Chinese company in October 2021 for the development of the nation’s first green hydrogen plant.
