Prime Minister Imran Khan will visit Karachi on September 27 for a day-long visit. Highlight of this visit will be laying the groundwork for the Karachi Circular Railway. All arrangements for the groundbreaking ceremony have been finalized, according to sources.
The prime minister will be accompanied by Sheikh Rasheed, and other federal ministries. During his one-day visit to Karachi, the prime minister will chair meetings at Governor House. He will be briefed on ongoing development projects in the city, party , and the province’s political affairs.
The National Economic Council’s Executive Committee addressed the construction of infrastructure for the elimination of level crossings on the Karachi Circular Railway’s loop segment. It also drafted a summary proposal for this purpose.
As per this proposal, construction of flyovers and underpasses along the KCR route will take place in order to eliminate 22-level crossings. The project will allow the KCR train to move swiftly. The assumed worth of this project is Rs20.71 billion. KCR also considered building a 43-kilometer-long cost efficient mass transit system employing environment friendly electric trains.
