Punjab Converts One-Third of All Brick Kilns to Eco-Friendly Technology.

The Ministry of Climate Change (MoCC) and the National Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (NEECA), in a joint effort with the International Center for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), have started a venture to change over block ovens in Punjab to the eco-accommodating crisscross innovation to decrease the dangerous effect of exhaust cloud on the climate.

Therefore, 3,203 block furnaces have been changed over to the crisscross procedure which is an energy and eco-friendly cycle to deliver better-quality blocks.

An authority from the Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) stated, “Around 37.44 percent of block ovens have been moved to a cleaner and effective innovation”.

He revealed that there are around 8,554 block furnaces in 36 areas of the territory based on the traditional bull channel oven models to run over coal, plastic, tires, and other crude material, a few of which have been changed over, 798 are being changed over, and the excess 5,351 will be changed over soon.

The authority additionally uncovered that more than 50% of the block furnaces in 10 areas of Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Pakpattan, Vehari, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, and Bhakar have been changed over.

Additionally, the locale with over 25 percent consistence incorporate Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Khushab, Sargodha, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala, Sheikhupura, Nankana, Chiniot, Toba Tek Singh, Sahiwal, Khanewal, Lodhran, and Dera Ghazi Khan.

Also, the locale with under 20% transformation are Rawalpindi, Mianwali, Jhang, Layyah, Faisalabad, Muzaffargarh, Multan, Rajanpur, and Rahim Yar Khan.

The Director-General Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency (DG-Pak-EPA), Farzana Altaf Shah, stated, “An expedient change of block ovens has demonstrated that this huge, unrecognized area has indicated the best execution for the control of air contamination and steps towards a perfect Pakistan”.

Pakistan is defenseless against the unfriendly effect of brown haze, and block ovens are a significant supporter of its air contamination. Crisscross innovation is eco-accommodating and turns the dark sediment produced by the block furnace into white smoke with moderately less air contaminations.
