Punjab Restores Laptop Scheme After 7 Years

Punjab’s Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has given the green light to restart the laptop scheme for students all over the province. The aim is to improve educational facilities, especially in areas where there aren’t enough resources.

During a meeting in Lahore, the decision was made to not only revive the laptop scheme but also to focus on promoting higher education. This includes plans to build new universities and colleges in areas that lack them and to provide transportation for students.

Currently, there are more than 650,000 students enrolled in universities across Punjab. Interestingly, there are slightly more girls (56%) than boys (44%) in these institutions.

In addition to laptops, the scheme will also provide 20 thousand motorbikes to students. This decision comes after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stressed the importance of addressing educational needs urgently. It marks the return of the laptop scheme, which had been paused for seven years.
