RTA Announces to Close Dubai’s Floating Bridge

Overview

Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum ordered to build the Floating Bridge Dubai over Dubai Creek to ease the traffic issues on the Al Maktoum Bridge. It is a six-lane bridge that was opened on July 16, 2007.

It is constructed between Al Maktoum and Al Garhoud Bridges. The Dubai Floating Bridge connects the intersection to Deira City Centre, Dubai Creek Golf, and Yacht Club. It ends at the Riyad City Street intersection that is located between Creek Parks and Dubai Courts.

This bridge is completed by Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).

In April 2023 the bridge was partially closed due to some issues in the bridge. but today it is reported by the Dubai RTA that the Dubai Floating Bridge is completely closed until the next announcement.

Dubai Floating Bridge Closure Extended

RTA tweeted today to announce the official decision of the Dubai Floating Bridge. According to the statement, the Dubai Floating Bridge closure is extended until the next notice.

RTA also added in their tweet that they need “to carry out technical tests and ensure the efficiency of the maintenance work on the bridge”.

Earlier, RTA announced that the Dubai Floating Bridge closure will last for five weeks. The closure started on April 17, 2023. But now there is no clue when the bridge will open. So, all must wait patiently till the opening of the bridge.

Alternative Routes

So, it is advised to the tourists that they should use alternative routes. These route details are as follows.

  • The traffic from Sharjah via Al Ittihad Street should make use of the Al-Mamzar exit point. There will be no toll charges for traffic.
    • This route will reduce traffic on Infinity Bridge from Cargo and Al Khaleej Road.
  • Vehicles for Sharjah to Bur Dubai through the Al Ittihad route should use Infinity Bridge from Cargo and Al Khaleej road. They can also use Al Garhoud Bridge and Maktoum Bridge.
  • The vehicles coming from Deira having destination Bur Dubai through Al Khaleej Street should make use of Infinity Bridge.
  • Traffic from Bur Dubai to Deira via Khalid Bin Al-Waleed Street will use Al Maktoum Bridge as well as Infinity Bridge.
  • The vehicles from Bur Dubai to Deia Via Umm Hurair Road will use Al Maktoum Bridge.
  • The traffic of Bur Dubai traveling towards Deira via Sheikh Zayed Road can travel through Al Garhoud Bridge, Infinity Bridge, Business Bay Crossing, and Al Maktoum Bridge.
  • Vehicles coming from Bur Dubai to Deira via Oud Metha Road make use of Al Maktoum Bridge and Al Garhoud Bridge.
  • The people who have motorbikes traveling between Deira and Bur Dubai can also use the main roads named Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed and Emirates.
  • Vehicles traveling from Bur Dubai to Deira via Al Riyad Street will use Al Maktoum Bridge.
