Sargodha Hits 54.3 DegreesFeels Like Temperature Placing It in Extreme Danger Zone

Sargodha recorded the highest “feels-like” temperature in Pakistan on June 30, reaching an extremely high 54.3°C, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

The heat index, also known as the “feels-like” temperature, shows how hot the weather feels when humidity is taken into account along with the actual air temperature.

The PMD placed Sargodha in the “Extreme Danger” category, warning that the risk of heatstroke is very high. People living in the city are advised to take extra precautions to protect themselves from the intense heat.

Several other cities across Pakistan also experienced dangerously hot weather during the ongoing heatwave. However, Sargodha recorded the highest heat index in the country, making it the hottest location in terms of how the temperature was felt.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has urged residents to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities, especially during the hottest hours of the afternoon. People are advised to stay indoors whenever possible, drink plenty of water throughout the day, and wear light, loose-fitting clothing to reduce the effects of extreme heat.

Health experts also recommend watching for signs of heat-related illnesses, including dizziness, heavy sweating, weakness, headache, nausea, and confusion. Anyone experiencing severe symptoms should seek medical attention immediately.

The PMD has said that children, older adults, and people with existing medical conditions are at greater risk during the heatwave. Families are encouraged to check on vulnerable relatives and ensure they remain cool and well hydrated.

Authorities continue to advise the public to follow safety guidelines as high temperatures are expected to continue in several parts of the country over the coming days.
