Pakistan’s star fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi created history on the opening day of the first Test against Bangladesh at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. The left-arm pacer became the first Pakistani bowler to take 100 wickets in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC). He reached this milestone by dismissing Bangladesh opener Mahmudul Hasan Joy.
At just 26 years old, Shaheen also became the 19th bowler in WTC history to reach 100 wickets. This achievement highlights his consistency and importance to Pakistan in the longest format of the game.
Pakistan’s bowling attack made an excellent start on the first day. After Shaheen’s breakthrough, Hasan Ali struck in his very first over by removing Shadman Islam. Bangladesh were struggling at 31-2 early in the innings as Pakistan maintained strong pressure with accurate and aggressive bowling.
Shaheen Shah Afridi has been Pakistan’s leading wicket-taker in the WTC since the competition began in 2019. Known for his pace, swing, and ability to perform in big matches, he continues to lead the attack with passion and skill.
This milestone adds to Shaheen’s growing reputation as one of the best fast bowlers of his generation. Pakistani fans and cricket experts are celebrating this achievement as the national team looks to perform well in the ongoing Test series and the WTC cycle.
