Sindh Police to Offer Paid Internships to University Students

A MoU was signed on Friday between Sindh University’s (SU) Department of Criminology and Sindh Police (Hyderabad Range) for the facilitation of students for research purposes and the provision of internship opportunities.

The document was signed at a ceremony held at the DIG office by the Chairman of the Department of Criminology, Prof. Dr Nabi Bux Narejo, and Deputy Inspector General Police (DIGP), Hyderabad Range, Pir Muhammad Shah. Prof. Abdul Hameed Mahesar and numerous police officers graced the event with their presence.  

Internships will be provided to students of the Dept of Criminology by Sindh Police Hyderabad Range in accordance with the MoU signed. Research will be conducted by Sindh University regarding various themes and areas to optimise the efficiency of operations by the police in order to cope better with the failure of law and order in Sindh.   

The Department of Criminology will provide the Sindh Police with the best students, and so will the internship provide quality-based research on the undergoing crime and policing problems, the MoU states.   

Internees from Sindh University will receive salaries monthly for their services as the internship will be for three months. The research and data work from the assigned trainees will be monitored by the Chairman, Dept. of Criminology, and will be reported to DIGP Hyderabad.   

DIGG Hyderabad Range While addressing the ceremony, Pir Muhammad Shah said that students will be provided with internships that will engage them in numerous research and operations.  

He further stated that Sindh Police Hyderabad is on a mission, working with dynamic institutions like Sindh University in order to eliminate intolerance within the society, which will lead to better policing within the community.  

The Vice Chancellor Professor, Dr.Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro, was called upon by the Chairman, Dept. of Criminology Dr.Nabi Bux, along with members of the faculty Abdul Hameed Mahesar, and his efforts for the MoU with Sindh Police were appraised.

The Vice-Chancellor also appreciated the department’s efforts to link the talented students and said that other MoU’s should take place with other police ranges so more students could get involved in research and development activities.  

He claims that these opportunities will give students hands-on experience with law enforcement departments on a daily basis.

He further stated that more seminars will be conducted in collaboration with Sindh Police in order to raise awareness about the law enforcement agencies in society.
