South Africa Whitewash India After Thrilling 3rd ODI Victory

After a thrilling win in the last ODI of the three-match series at Newlands, Cape Town on Sunday, India witnessed their first-ever ODI series whitewash in South Africa.

South Africa completed a record 3-0 clean sweep of India in the 50-over format with a 4-run victory in the third and final ODI at Newlands, following two thunderous victories in the first two matches.

KL After Kapil Dev, Dilip Vengsarkar, Sachin Tendulkar, and Virat Kohli, Rahul became only the fourth Indian captain to suffer a whitewash in an ODI series of three or more matches. Deepak Chahar, who bowled out South Africa for 287 runs with his fast bowling, was part of a 55-run eighth-wicket stand, however; it went in vain.

Earlier in the day, India got off to a poor start as captain KL Rahul was dismissed in the fifth over by Lungi Ngidi for the hosts. Shikhar Dhawan then scored his 35th ODI fifty and teamed up with ex-captain Virat Kohli to add 98 runs for the second wicket to keep India in contention.
