PTA has granted Lucky Motor Corporation Limited MDM authorization to manufacture Samsung brand mobile devices in compliance with the Mobile Device Manufacturing (MDM) Regulations 2021.
The company had filed for permission to build a mobile device manufacturing unit in Karachi, Pakistan, to produce Samsung-branded smartphones.
The approval to manufacture Samsung mobile devices in Pakistan marks a watershed moment for the country’s thriving mobile manufacturing ecosystem, securing the participation of significant local and international firms in the market.
PTA has granted MDM authorizations to 25 foreign and domestic businesses to manufacture mobile devices (2G/3G/4G). These companies’ mobile devices will not only be sold in the country but also exported to other competitive markets in the area and abroad.
The device manufacturing units will play a key role in providing new job opportunities and making mobile gadgets more affordable for Pakistanis. This is only feasible because of Pakistan’s supportive policies under its “Digital Pakistan” initiative.
