Security has been greatly increased across the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, with authorities enforcing stricter measures than during the previous round of talks between Iran and the United States.
Officials said on Sunday that all public transport and goods transport services have been suspended until further notice. This step has been taken as part of a wider security plan ahead of the expected next round of negotiations in the federal capital.
Educational institutions in both cities have also shifted to online classes to ensure the safety of students and staff. Universities and schools are continuing academic activities through digital platforms until the situation improves.
A high-level security alert has been declared across Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Large numbers of police and other law enforcement personnel have been deployed in different areas to maintain order and prevent any possible security risks. Checkpoints and patrols have been increased, especially in sensitive locations.
Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Nawaz Memon confirmed the suspension of heavy and public transport services in a post on social media platform X. He stated that all transport operations will remain suspended until further official instructions are issued.
Authorities said these measures are necessary to ensure a safe environment during a sensitive diplomatic period. Movement restrictions, road closures, and increased surveillance are all part of the security strategy.
Officials have urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and avoid unnecessary travel. They added that the situation is being closely monitored and normal services will be restored once security concerns are reduced.
