Former Pakistan cricket captain Shahid Afridi strongly believes that it would be a huge humiliation for India to be defeated by Pakistan in a major cricket tournament, especially on their home ground. Afridi urged the management to encourage the national players to participate in the World Cup and return home with the trophy, resolving the situation in a positive and intelligent manner.
Afridi expressed his confusion regarding the Pakistan Cricket Board’s insistence on not playing in India. He suggested that they should approach the situation with a more positive mindset, urging the players to go and play their best. He emphasized that winning the tournament would not only be a significant victory for Pakistan but also a strong message to BCCI.
Considering the limited options available to the PCB, Afridi recommended that they choose the most feasible and practical one. He encouraged the team to go to India, play well, and secure the victory. Afridi believed this was the best course of action to demonstrate Pakistan’s ability to win anywhere and send a clear message to their opponents.
Afridi had previously stressed the importance of separating cricket from politics and urged the relevant authorities to make a prompt decision on hosting the Asia Cup in Pakistan.
It is unfortunate that Pakistan and India, known as arch-rivals due to historical reasons, have not been able to compete against each other on their home grounds in any format of the game since 2012.
