Women’s Training Program for Pink Bus Service is Announced

Sindh Minister for Information, Broadcasting, and Transport Sharjeel Memon has announced the launch of a training program for women bus drivers, especially pink buses run for women. 

While presiding over the Sindh Mass Transit Authority’s 10th board meeting in Karachi, the provincial minister made this announcement. The board considered providing a subsidy for the People’s Bus Service after the approval of the Cabinet.

The meeting also decided to start a training program for women drivers, especially for women-operated pink buses, so that women passengers traveling in these buses can feel safe.

 

The board also discussed the second phase of the People’s Bus Service which will include adding 500 buses as well as an eco-friendly electric taxi service.

The Red Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project’s development was also discussed at the SMTA board meeting.

Transport Secretary Salim Rajput, SMTA Managing Director Kamal Dev, DIG Traffic Ahmed Nawaz Cheema, Planning and Development Department representative Sikandar Shaikh and Trans Karachi Chief Executive Officer Tufail Plaju also participated in the meeting.
