Zhongtong, the bus manufacturers of China has recently secured an order to provide about 100 units of around 18-metre-long buses that are for Green Line as well as for Orange Line Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) projects in the city of Karachi.
These energy buses will be in orange and green colours and it will provide a much needed comfortable mode of transportation to the people of Karachi besides easing the traffic congestion.
Asad Umar, the federal Minister of Planning and Development has also recently said in his Tweet that this is currently being tested by the Chinese authorities for the mechanical and safety issues after that the energy buses will be launched.
However, it was added that once this inspection is completed, a total of about 80 buses will be shipped right to Karachi and will be added to the Green Line’s fleet. Thos mass transit project is also expected to become operational this year in 2021.
