Drivers travelling on the Islamabad-Lahore Motorway (M-2) now have to pay more. The National Highway Authority (NHA) has raised toll taxes by 7 percent. For cars, jeeps, and taxis, the new toll is Rs. 1,430, almost Rs. 1,500. The increase started on July 5, 2026.
This change follows the motorway’s concession agreement. The new rates will stay in effect until April 23, 2027. Toll charges for other vehicles have also gone up based on a per-kilometre rate. For example, wagons now pay Rs. 2,390 coasters Rs. 3,350, buses Rs. 4,770, and heavy trucks even more.
The M-2 is one of Pakistan’s busiest and most important highways. It connects the capital city Islamabad with Lahore, the country’s second largest city. Many people use it for business, travel, and family visits every day.
The NHA says the extra money will help with ongoing rehabilitation and modernization work. This includes road repairs, safety improvements, and better facilities for travellers. Pakistan is working hard to upgrade its road network to support economic growth and smoother journeys.
People are advised to check the latest toll rates before planning their trips on the M-2.
