NDMA Warns Next 24 Hours Critical Amid Heavy Rain and Flood Thre@t

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a nationwide weather alert, warning citizens of a critical 24-hour period during which several parts of Pakistan may face severe weather conditions. According to the advisory, heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, strong winds, dust storms, and the risk of urban flooding are expected in multiple regions, prompting authorities to urge the public to remain vigilant and closely monitor official weather updates.

The forecast indicates rain and thunderstorms in various areas of Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir, and Balochistan. Meanwhile, Sindh, including Karachi, is also likely to experience strong winds, dust storms, and isolated rainfall during the same period. The NDMA has cautioned that these weather conditions may disrupt daily life, cause power outages, and create dangerous road conditions in urban and low-lying areas.

In addition to the rain alert, the authority has raised concerns over the possibility of Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF) events in the northern regions of the country. Such incidents could trigger flash floods, landslides, and debris flows, posing serious threats to nearby communities and travelers. Officials have advised tourists and residents in mountainous areas to avoid unnecessary travel, remain prepared for emergencies, and stay informed through official channels to minimize risks during the expected weather spell.
