U.S. Navy Should Not Even Go Near Strait of Hormuz: Iran’s Military

Iran’s military has issued a strong warning to the United States. It says the U.S. Navy should stay away from the Strait of Hormuz. All commercial vessels and oil tankers must coordinate their movements with Iranian forces if they want to pass through the strategic waterway.

Iran claims it has full control over security in the area. Officials say any navigation must go through its approval system. They warned of strong retaliation against any hostile action. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy said foreign military ships, especially American ones, entering the strait would face attack.

This warning came after U.S. President Donald Trump announced “Project Freedom.” The plan aims to help guide stranded commercial ships out of the Gulf. The U.S. has already sent guided-missile destroyers and is supporting the operation with aircraft and military resources. Two American-flagged vessels reportedly transited the strait on May 4, 2026.

The Strait of Hormuz is a critical route for global oil and gas. Its partial closure has raised energy prices and affected world trade. Iran calls its actions defensive and necessary for security. The U.S. says its moves are humanitarian to help neutral ships.

Tensions remain high in the Gulf region even after the recent ceasefire. Both sides accuse each other of escalating the situation. This standoff continues to worry many countries about possible wider conflict and economic impact.
